- Support strong and effective working relationships with media, government, and stakeholders, to protect and promote the department's corporate reputation
- Contribute to the delivery of Corporate Plan objectives, while providing advice to internal stakeholders to manage reputation risk
- Develop responses to media issues, inquiries, and opportunities with other teams (social, internal, community etc) including preparation of media statements, alerts, strategies and releases in a highly effective and timely manner
- Work effectively and build trust with the media team in the Minister’s office
- Keep up to date with emerging media trends and non-traditional media channels and update media and stakeholder strategy teams
- Develop relationships with other media officers in key agencies
- Act as a general media spokesperson
- Share on-call duties as one of three on-call spokespeople including daily media monitoring (traditional and social)
- Experience in a similar role is essential, ideally with exposure to NSW Government
- Degree qualifications in communications, journalism, public policy, public relations, business or similar
- Valid drivers licence is required for the role
- Candidates must be able to commit to the required duration of the assignment
- Candidates must be able to pass a full background check
- Candidates must have a current Working with Children Check for paid work, or the ability to process this quickly
- For this role, our client requires candidates to be double vaccinated for COVID19, unless they can't due to a protected attribute such as a medical condition
