Customer support is one of the most important aspects of any business. It's the customer-facing part of the company, and often the customers’ first and last point of contact with your business. That's why it's so important to have a strong customer support team. When recruiting the best people in customer support, we look for several stand-out qualities. In particular, we value patience, empathy, communication skills, problem-solving skills, and adaptability.

Facing an upset customer can be a confronting and difficult situation to deal with. But no matter how angry or upset a customer may be, it's important to remain calm and professional. Losing patience will only make the situation worse, which is why we seek this trait in our candidates.

Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another person. It's important to be empathetic with customers because it demonstrates to the customers that the employee understands their situation, and is doing their best to help them through a difficult time.

Communication skills are essential for customer support, as employees need to be able to clearly explain things to customers, and to understand exactly what they're saying in return. If they can't communicate effectively, they won't be able to help the customer!

Problem-solving skills. This one is pretty self-explanatory! Customers come to customer support with problems, so it's important for employees to quickly and efficiently solve the customer's problem.

A good customer support employee needs to be able to adapt to a business, and to new situations. They need to become knowledgeable about the product or support their business provides, about the customers they’ll be dealing with, and about the processes and systems that the business has implemented. This prepares them to answer questions about the product/service, and troubleshoot problems.
