An exciting opportunity has become available for a fluent Mandarin-speaking Community Engagement Support Officer to help strengthen community connections and increase participation in important preventative health programs.
About the role
Working closely with the Community Development Team Leader, you'll use your Mandarin language skills, cultural knowledge and community connections to engage with local communities, deliver culturally appropriate support and help improve access to essential health services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building trusted relationships with Mandarin-speaking community members and organisations.
- Delivering community information sessions and attending outreach events.
- Supporting clients to book and attend appointments.
- Providing language assistance and culturally appropriate support.
- Partnering with community leaders, cultural associations, faith-based organisations and local services.
- Assisting with community campaigns and engagement activities.
- Supporting community champions and local health promotion initiatives.
About you
- Fluency in Mandarin (essential).
- Strong cultural knowledge and established connections within the Mandarin-speaking community.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence engaging with community groups and speaking in public settings.
- Strong organisational and computer skills.
- Current Victorian Driver Licence and willingness to travel locally.
