MAYDAY Recruitment is excited to partner with a fast-growing Australian payments organisation to recruit a newly created Business Development Manager position within their Education division.
This is an excellent opportunity for a driven sales professional who thrives in a hunter-style role and enjoys building strong commercial relationships. You’ll be responsible for generating new business opportunities and acquiring school clients across the Private and Independent school sector throughout Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia.
Joining a small, collaborative and growing team, you’ll work closely with senior stakeholders within schools, particularly Finance Managers, Bursars and Heads of Finance, helping schools implement innovative payment solutions that improve operational efficiency and user experience.

Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and acquire new school clients across assigned territories
- Prospect and generate new business opportunities within the education sector
- Conduct presentations, meetings and demonstrations with key decision-makers
- Manage structured follow-up activity to progress and close opportunities
- Maintain consistent sales activity and achieve agreed KPIs
- Build and manage a healthy sales pipeline aligned to revenue targets
- Collaborate closely with marketing, technical teams and leadership
- Attend conferences, roadshows and industry events to generate leads
- Maintain accurate CRM records within HubSpot
- Support onboarding and activation of newly signed schools
About You:
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a Business Development or Sales role
- Proven success in a hunter-style sales environment
- Strong track record achieving revenue and growth targets
- Confident presenting and building relationships with senior stakeholders
- Experience within payments, fintech or financial services is advantageous
- Exposure to the education sector or selling into schools highly regarded
- Strong solution-selling and negotiation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organised with strong time management abilities
- Advanced skills across Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
- Self-motivated, resilient and results-driven
