About the Organisation
We are seeking an experienced Campaigns, Media and Advocacy professional to join a leading purpose-driven organisation on an initial six-week contract.

This is a unique opportunity to step into a highly visible project, bring structure to a broad brief and take ownership from strategy through to execution.

The project sits within the mental health and social policy space and involves engaging with political, media and sector stakeholders to build awareness, influence public discussion and create momentum around an important issue.

The successful candidate will need to hit the ground running, quickly understand the environment and use their experience and judgement to determine the best approach as the project develops.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive a targeted advocacy and media campaign.
  • Translate complex issues, data and policy into clear and compelling messaging.
  • Build engagement across relevant sector organisations and stakeholders.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for meaningful media coverage.
  • Create opportunities for a strong public or media moment.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to build alignment around key messages.
  • Coordinate campaign activity, including joint communications and stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitor the political and media environment and adapt the approach as opportunities emerge.
  • Take the project from a broad objective through to practical execution.


About You

  • Experienced Campaigns, Advocacy, Media, Public Affairs or Communications professional.
  • Background within an NFP, peak body, advocacy organisation, government, union, health or community organisation.
  • Strong experience across political advocacy, campaigns and media.
  • Able to take a broad brief and lead a project from strategy through to execution.
  • Proactive, self-directed and confident working with limited direction.
  • Strong judgement with the confidence to make recommendations, provide strategic advice and challenge thinking.
  • Calm under pressure and comfortable navigating ambiguity, complexity and competing views.
  • Adaptable and able to respond quickly as circumstances and opportunities change.
  • Comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands-on level.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and stakeholder management skills.
  • Digital content, social media or campaign activation experience would be highly regarded.


Contract & Benefits

  • 6-week contract
  • $55–$63 per hour + super
  • Ideally 4–5 days per week, with flexibility for the right person
  • Hybrid working arrangements
  • Centrally located Melbourne office
