MAYDAY Recruitment is excited to be partnering with a leading organisation within the workers compensation and personal injury sector to recruit a Clinical Psychology Advisor.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Psychologist to leverage their clinical expertise in a broader advisory capacity - influencing claims strategy, supporting recovery and return-to-work outcomes, and building the capability of experienced Case Managers.

If you enjoy complex clinical thinking, stakeholder engagement and mentoring others, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact at a portfolio and organisational level.

The opportunity

As a Clinical Advisor, you will provide specialist psychological guidance across complex claims, helping Case Managers make informed decisions around treatment, recovery and return to work.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing medical records, reports and treatment plans and providing clinical opinions on diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and return-to-work strategies.

  • Providing early clinical input into claims and identifying opportunities to improve recovery outcomes.

  • Participating in case conferences alongside treating practitioners and other allied health professionals.

  • Liaising and negotiating with treating providers regarding treatment methodology, frequency and suitability.

  • Working with psychologists, doctors, specialists and allied health professionals to facilitate improvements in capacity and recovery.

  • Conducting strategic file reviews and providing clinical recommendations to Case Managers.

  • Coaching and mentoring Case Managers to strengthen their understanding of psychological conditions, treatment pathways and effective medical management.

  • Delivering training and knowledge-sharing sessions across the claims team.

  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across medical and claims management.

  • Identifying emerging risks and opportunities associated with prolonged disability, treatment and recovery.

  • Contributing clinical expertise to improve customer outcomes and the overall claims experience.

About you

You will be a qualified and registered Psychologist with strong clinical experience and an interest in applying your expertise within the workers compensation or personal injury environment.

You will ideally bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Psychology.

  • Current professional registration as a Psychologist (non-practising registration may be considered).

  • Demonstrated clinical practice experience, ideally within occupational health, workers compensation, rehabilitation or disability management.

  • Strong knowledge of psychological injury, disability and injury management.

  • Experience within the personal injury or workers compensation industry.

  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills.

  • The ability to confidently engage with treating practitioners and stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Why consider this role?

This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychologist who is ready to broaden their impact beyond traditional clinical practice.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Apply your clinical expertise to complex workers compensation claims.

  • Influence treatment and return-to-work strategies.

  • Work collaboratively with Case Managers and medical professionals.

  • Coach and develop the capability of others.

  • Contribute to broader medical management and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Make a tangible difference to injured workers and their recovery outcomes.

  • Build your career within a specialist personal injury environment.
