A meaningful career opportunity | No call centre experience required | Rhodes
MAYDAY Recruitment is proud to be partnering with one of Australia's largest funeral service providers to recruit compassionate and professional Customer Care Coordinators to join their supportive team in Rhodes.
Are you a natural people person who enjoys helping others, building connections and making a positive difference?
Perhaps you're looking to take the next step in your career, transition into a corporate environment or move away from traditional retail, hospitality, healthcare or frontline customer service work into something more meaningful.
This could be the opportunity you've been looking for!
You don't need previous call centre, corporate or funeral industry experience. We are looking for people with strong interpersonal skills, emotional maturity and a genuine passion for helping others.
As one of the first points of contact for families following the loss of a loved one, you will provide reassurance, gather important information and help families navigate the initial stages of their journey with care and dignity.
This is more than a traditional customer service role. It offers the opportunity to develop professional office-based skills, work within an established corporate environment and build a rewarding career while making a genuine difference to people's lives.
The role does require emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm and professional during difficult conversations. You will be speaking with families experiencing grief, so empathy, patience and a considered approach are essential.
What you'll be doing
- Answering inbound calls from families following the death of a loved one, responding with empathy, patience and professionalism.
- Listening carefully, asking sensitive questions and gathering accurate, detailed information during emotionally difficult conversations.
- Coordinating the next steps, including communicating essential information to funeral arrangers and relevant internal teams.
- Maintaining accurate records across multiple systems while ensuring important details are captured and communicated correctly.
- Managing competing priorities and balancing compassionate conversations with the need to progress each call appropriately.
- Recognising when a family needs additional support and escalating concerns to the appropriate team member when required.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and leaders, contributing to a supportive environment where team members can debrief and seek guidance when needed.
- What will make you successful?
- We are interested in people, not just job titles. You might currently work in retail, hospitality, healthcare, administration, education, aged care or another customer-facing environment and be ready for a new challenge.
You will ideally bring:
- Excellent people skills: You enjoy interacting with others and can build rapport with people from all walks of life.
- Empathy and emotional intelligence: You can recognise how someone is feeling and adapt your approach to make them feel comfortable and supported.
- Confident communication: You can communicate clearly, listen actively and navigate sensitive conversations with maturity.
- Emotional resilience: You can remain calm and professional in challenging situations while recognising when to seek support.
- Attention to detail: You understand the importance of accuracy when handling information and completing administrative tasks.
- Organisation and adaptability: You are comfortable learning new systems, managing different priorities and working within a structured environment.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn: You are motivated to develop new skills and build a career within a professional corporate environment.
- A genuine desire to help: You want to do work that has purpose and makes a difference to others.
- Previous experience in customer service, retail, hospitality, healthcare, administration, aged care, counselling, community services or other people-focused roles will be highly regarded.
You do not need previous call centre or corporate experience. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to transfer their existing people skills into a new professional environment.
