Desktop Home Assessor

  • North Lakes / Hybrid | Full-time
  • Leading national insurer | Property claims focus
  • Competitive salary + bonus + benefits

MAYDAY is proud to be partnering with a leading national insurance organisation experiencing strong growth across its property claims division. We’re looking for a Desktop Home Assessor to join a high-performing team responsible for assessing and managing home insurance claims end-to-end using virtual tools.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a building, estimating or trades background who wants to step into a corporate environment while still using their technical knowledge in a meaningful way.

About the Role

In this role, you’ll manage a portfolio of home insurance claims from lodgement through to settlement, using desktop assessment tools and expert reports to determine scope, cost and repair outcomes.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Conducting desktop assessments of property damage using virtual tools and supplier reports
  • Determining cause of damage, policy coverage and appropriate repair methods
  • Preparing accurate scopes of works and cost estimates
  • Reviewing builder and supplier quotes to ensure value, accuracy and timeliness
  • Managing end-to-end claims outcomes within agreed SLAs
  • Delivering a strong customer experience during what is often a stressful time
  • Working closely with builders, suppliers, repairers and internal claims teams

About You

You’ll bring a practical, hands-on understanding of building or construction and be comfortable working in a fast-paced claims environment.

You’ll have:

  • Experience in building, estimating, construction, or insurance assessing (trade background highly regarded)
  • Strong understanding of residential building practices and repair methods
  • Ability to interpret scopes, quotes and technical reports
  • Strong attention to detail and sound decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management ability
  • A customer-first mindset with resilience and empathy

Why This Role?

  • Step into a stable, growing national insurer with strong career pathways
  • Hybrid working and modern desktop assessment tools
  • Strong training and onboarding for non-insurance backgrounds
  • Clear development pathway into senior assessing or technical claims roles
  • Supportive, collaborative team culture

This is a great entry point into insurance for someone who knows how homes are built but wants to move away from site-based work. You’ll still use your technical expertise, just in a smarter, more flexible way.
