MAYDAY Recruitment is excited to be partnering with a global organisation to recruit an External Communications Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the Asia & Emerging Markets communications function during a period of leave cover, working across media relations, executive communications, thought leadership, and regional communications programs.

Based in Pyrmont, this flexible hybrid opportunity offers 20 hours per week, which can be worked across 4 or 5 days, providing excellent flexibility for an experienced communications professional seeking meaningful and impactful work.

Working closely with regional leadership, PR agencies, and global communications teams, you'll play an important role in driving communications activity across multiple markets while ensuring key initiatives are delivered on time and to a high standard.

 

About the role

As the External Communications Manager, you'll support the planning, coordination, and delivery of communications initiatives across the Asia & Emerging Markets region. This is a varied role that combines media relations, executive communications, stakeholder engagement, campaign support, and project coordination.

You'll act as a key point of contact across multiple communications workstreams, helping to ensure consistency of messaging, effective stakeholder engagement, and successful execution of regional communications activities.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of regional communications strategies and campaigns across Asia & Emerging Markets.
  • Partnering with senior leaders to prepare media briefings, speaking opportunities, interviews, and executive communications materials.
  • Managing relationships with external PR agencies and monitoring the effectiveness of media outreach and coverage across regional markets.
  • Coordinating communications support for events, sponsorship activities, leadership visits, and customer engagement initiatives.
  • Contributing to thought leadership, market research, and brand awareness campaigns, helping to position the organisation as a leader within its sector.
  • Preparing media materials, messaging documents, briefing notes, stakeholder updates, and other communications content.
  • Tracking project milestones, coordinating approvals, maintaining reporting dashboards, and ensuring communications activities remain on schedule.
  • Monitoring media activity and preparing regular reporting and insights for internal stakeholders.
  • Providing day-to-day support across a variety of external communications initiatives as required.
 

About you

We're looking for a proactive and highly organised communications professional who enjoys working across multiple projects and building strong relationships with stakeholders.

 

You will bring:

  • 5+ years' experience within corporate communications, public relations, media relations, or external communications.
  • Experience supporting executive communications, media engagement, and reputation-building initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across regional and global teams.
  • Experience working with PR agencies, media contacts, and external partners.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to develop high-quality communication materials and messaging.
  • Strong project management capabilities and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Experience within technology, professional services, legal, financial services, consulting, or related industries will be highly regarded.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work independently within a fast-paced environment.
