MAYDAY Recruitment is partnering with a respected and long-standing organisation within the funeral services sector to recruit a Funeral Director Assistant . This is a meaningful, hands-on role suited to someone who is compassionate, reliable, and comfortable working in a sensitive environment supporting families during important moments in their lives.

Working as part of a close-knit team, you will support the delivery of professional funeral services across a range of settings. The role is varied and practical, requiring flexibility, emotional resilience, and a strong team mindset.
Key responsibilities include:-
Assisting with funeral services, including supporting services off and onsite.

Driving hearses and assisting with transfers, including after-hours, weekends, and on-call shifts

Performing checks and supporting care processes

Trimming coffins, preparing nameplates, and adding crosses or crucifixes in line with family requests

Providing occasional support in the on-site mortuary
-
Working closely with colleagues to ensure services run smoothly and respectfully

Maintaining compliance with health, safety, quality, and operational standards
Essential requirements:

Physically fit and able to safely lift, carry, and manoeuvre coffins (medical assessment required)

Comfortable working around deceased persons and in emotionally challenging environments
- Strong communication skills with a calm, respectful, and empathetic approach
- During training, availability for a minimum of 3 full days per week onsite is required

A reliable team player who works well in high-trust environments
- Current unrestricted driver’s licence
- Initial 4-day induction held in Holland Park (Brisbane)
- Ongoing flexibility required for day shifts, nights, weekends, and on-call work

Exposure to funeral services or a strong willingness to learn (not essential)
