Mayday is partnering with a respected organisation within the funeral services sector to recruit a Funeral Services Assistant. This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, service-driven, and comfortable working in a sensitive and meaningful environment supporting families at important moments.

The Role
Working closely with the local team, you will assist in the delivery of professional funeral services to the community. You will contribute to a positive and supportive workplace where customer care, teamwork, and service quality are key.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to families, clients, and internal stakeholders

  • Supporting funeral services and day-to-day operations at the location

  • Ensuring compliance with internal policies, procedures, and quality standards

  • Assisting with preparation, coordination, and service delivery as required

  • Contributing to a collaborative and respectful team environment

  • Supporting health, safety, and wellbeing standards in the workplace

About You

Essential:

  • Experience in a service-focused environment or the ability to quickly learn

  • Current unrestricted driver’s licence

  • Comfortable working in circumstances involving death, grief, and deceased persons

  • Strong communication skills with a calm, empathetic approach

  • High attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

  • Sensitivity and respect for diverse values, beliefs, and cultural practices

  • Physically and psychologically fit to manage manual handling, stress, and the inherent requirements of the role

Desirable:

  • Exposure to or understanding of the funeral services industry, or willingness to learn

  • Background in hospitality, retail, community services, or a similar people-focused industry
