As a 24-hour operation, this position offers varied and meaningful work across funeral services, transfers, and day-to-day support functions. This is a casual opportunity with a strong potential for permanent opportunities.
The Role
Working closely with the local team, you will support all aspects of funeral operations including transfers, service delivery, and client support. This is a multi-skilled role where no two days are the same, and you’ll be supported with structured training and buddy programs from day one.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting transfers and collections from hospitals, nursing homes, private residences, coronial environments, and other locations during business hours and after hours
  • Attending and completing collections from coronial facilities as required as part of transfer duties
  • Supporting viewings and assisting with preparation and handling requirements as needed
  • Working alongside senior team members during funeral services and transfers until confident in the role
  • Assisting with cleaning and preparation of spaces between services
  • Ensuring compliance with workplace procedures, health and safety standards, and quality expectations
  • Supporting a collaborative, respectful, and professional team culture
About You
Essential:
  • Full unrestricted driver’s licence
  • Full availability across weekdays, with flexibility for after-hours work where required
  • Comfortable working in circumstances involving death and grief
  • Comfortable undertaking transfer work including collections from hospitals, nursing homes, and coronial environments
  • Ability to manage the emotional aspects of transfer work, including exposure to sensitive situations and deceased persons
  • Strong communication skills with a calm, empathetic, and professional approach
  • Physically fit and capable of manual handling requirements
  • Reliable, adaptable, and comfortable working within a 24-hour operational environment
  • Ability to commit to a minimum of 4–5 days per week
Desirable:
  • Previous experience in funeral services, healthcare, aged care, community services, or other people-focused industries
  • Experience in customer-facing or emotionally sensitive environments
  • Availability for optional weekend after-hours work
What’s On Offer?
  • Competitive hourly rate
  • Casual opportunity with potential for permanent employment
  • Structured onboarding with monthly inductions
  • 4 weeks of buddy training across both funeral services and transfers
  • Full-time training hours during the first 4 weeks in the office and on the road with experienced team members
  • Buddy support with senior FDAs across transfers and funeral services until comfortable working independently
  • Opportunity to develop a unique and rewarding career within an essential services industry
  • Supportive team environment with established processes and mentoring
  • On-site parking available
  • Optional overtime opportunities
