Our client a values-driven community organisation located in the inner suburbs is seeking an experienced People & Culture Support Officer to join their team on a 7 month fixed term basis, until January 2027. Conveniently located close to public transport, this is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied HR, payroll and systems support role within a collaborative environment.
Reporting to the People & Culture Operations Lead, this role provides high-quality HR, payroll and systems support across the organisation. You’ll be a key point of contact for employee enquiries and play an important role in maintaining accurate people and payroll data, supporting systems and processes, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the People & Culture function.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a first point of contact for HR enquiries, providing general advice and information
- Ensure employment paperwork (commencements, changes, leave and terminations) is accurate and processed in a timely manner
- Maintain electronic personnel files and confidential employee records
- Support the review and development of HR policies, processes and procedures
- Assist with HR projects, research and process improvement initiatives as required
- Support accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees
- Maintain employee data including pay, superannuation and leave records
- Ensure compliance with the Enterprise Agreement, policies and relevant legislation
- Process payroll documentation including commencements, variations, deductions and terminations
- Respond to payroll enquiries from staff and managers with a high level of customer service
- Support and train employees in payroll Employee Self Service (ESS)
- Maintain and manage data within HRIS (Chris21)
- Contribute to the review and improvement of HRIS systems, processes and reporting
- Ensure the security, confidentiality and integrity of employee information at all times
You’ll be an organised and service-focused HR or payroll professional who enjoys working across both people and systems. Ideally, you will bring:
- Experience in a HR, payroll or P&C support role
- Working knowledge of Chris21 (highly regarded)
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Confidence responding to HR and payroll enquiries
- A collaborative, proactive and customer-focused approach
