We’re partnering with a leading national organisation to recruit an experienced Payroll Advisor to join their high-performing team. This role plays a critical part in supporting complex payroll operations, driving pay accuracy, and contributing to continuous improvement across a fast-paced, agile environment.

About the Role

As a Payroll Advisor, you’ll play a key role in delivering accurate and compliant payroll outcomes within a large, complex workforce. Working as part of a collaborative payroll function, you’ll support end-to-end weekly payrun processes while also acting as a subject matter expert across complex payroll matters.

You’ll be responsible for investigating and resolving escalated payroll issues, performing root cause analysis, and ensuring risks to pay accuracy are identified and addressed proactively. This role also supports ongoing project work and continuous improvement initiatives within an agile payroll delivery model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support end-to-end weekly payroll processing within a complex, high-volume payroll environment
  • Investigate and resolve escalated payroll issues, including conducting root cause analysis
  • Act as a subject matter expert to support complex payroll transactions and reduce pay risk
  • Monitor payroll processes during each payrun and escalate any gaps or risks impacting accuracy
  • Identify, highlight, and escalate risks impacting pay accuracy and compliance
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and data integrity across all payroll and people systems
  • Support Payroll Officers with complex and time-sensitive payroll queries and transactions
  • Contribute to Agile delivery cadences, identifying opportunities for process improvement
  • Drive improvements in payroll accuracy, efficiency, and overall service delivery
About You
  • 5+ years’ experience in complex payroll environments
  • Strong understanding of Australian and New Zealand payroll legislation
  • Experience working with SAP is essential
  • Experience working with high-volume, end-to-end payroll processes
  • Strong knowledge of Enterprise Agreements (EAs)
  • Proven ability to manage escalations and perform root cause analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset
  • Confident communicator with strong influencing skills
  • High attention to detail with a strong risk and compliance focus
  • Tech-savvy with excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Able to work autonomously while contributing effectively in a team environment
  • Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable working in a changing, fast-paced environment
