About the company:
Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Project Specialist to join a dynamic finance team on a 5-month fixed-term contract in Melbourne CBD. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the implementation and upgrade of our payroll system, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and seamless delivery.

About the Role
Reporting to the CFO, you will support the payroll project from end to end, including:
  • Coordinating project activities, timelines, and resources to deliver milestones on time and within scope.
  • Performing data analysis, migration, and validation to ensure accurate payroll outcomes.
  • Supporting user testing, training, and documentation to enable smooth adoption of the new system.
  • Maintaining payroll compliance, resolving issues, and supporting BAU payroll processes.
  • Driving action closure, preparing audit evidence, and supporting go-live

What We’re Looking For
  • 3–5+ years in payroll operations and/or payroll projects (implementation, optimisation, remediation, compliance uplift).
  • Hands-on experience with UAT/SIT, defect triage, data migration/reconciliations, and parallel pay runs.
  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, superannuation, tax, and payroll controls.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
  • High attention to detail, problem-solving capability, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (intermediate to advanced Excel).
  • Experience with multiple payroll software platforms; Microsoft 365 Business Central or MS Dynamics NAV Payroll preferred but not essential.
  • Strong organisation and time management skills, ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Team player with ability to work autonomously when required.
  • Adaptable, responsive, and committed to delivering high-quality outcomes.
