MAYDAY is seeking an experienced Payroll Team Leader to join a leading global insurance organisation on an initial 6-month contract.
This is a key position within a high-volume, multi-entity payroll environment, where you will be responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and seamless end-to-end payroll delivery. You’ll play a critical role in maintaining payroll integrity, supporting a small team, and driving consistency across processes in a fast-paced corporate setting.
You will oversee payroll operations across a large and complex workforce, acting as a senior point of contact for all payroll-related activities. This role requires a balance of hands-on payroll expertise, leadership, and stakeholder engagement to ensure all processes are delivered accurately, on time, and in line with legislation and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end payroll processing across multiple entities
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll delivery within strict deadlines
- Provide oversight and support to payroll team members, particularly during peak periods
- Act as the escalation point for complex payroll queries and discrepancies
- Maintain strong payroll controls and ensure compliance with legislation and internal policies
- Partner with HR, Finance, and key stakeholders on reporting and project initiatives
- Support audit processes and ensure payroll data integrity

- Proven experience leading payroll operations in large, complex organisations
- Strong background managing high-volume payroll environments
- Confident leader with the ability to support and guide team members
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance
- Experienced in resolving complex payroll issues and escalations
- Strong stakeholder management skills across HR and Finance
- Solid understanding of payroll legislation, governance, and best practice controls
