MAYDAY Recruitment has partnered with Australia’s largest funeral service provider to bring a brand-new Pre-Paid Funeral Sales Specialist opportunity to market, looking after the Central Brisbane region.
This is a unique opportunity for a relationship-driven sales professional who thrives on building networks, creating new opportunities and growing a strong sales pipeline. You’ll be out in the community, developing partnerships, generating leads and converting those relationships into meaningful business outcomes — while using your empathy and emotional intelligence to confidently navigate sensitive conversations.
This isn’t a hard-sell environment. It’s about listening, asking the right questions, understanding what matters to each person and providing the right options to help people plan ahead.
If you’re a natural networker, a confident communicator and someone who enjoys being out in the community building relationships and creating your own pipeline, this could be the opportunity for you.
What’s in it for you?
- $77K + super + $15K uncapped commission
- Brand-new role with genuine opportunity to make your mark across Central Brisbane
- An autonomous role with plenty of time out meeting clients and building relationships
- Comprehensive training and 3–4 months of structured shadowing
- Exposure to the wider funeral services business and industry
- Opportunity to build relationships with local businesses, community groups, RSLs and other referral partners
- Standard hours around 9am–5pm / 8:30am–5:30pm
- No expectation for evening appointments
- Occasional weekend appointments with time off in lieu
- A role where you can genuinely help people while driving business growth
What will you be doing?
You’ll take ownership of the Central Brisbane region, working across a network of funeral locations to grow the pre-paid funeral business.
This is a role where you’ll need to be proactive and create opportunities rather than waiting for them to come to you.
Your day could include:
- Meeting with clients to understand their needs and discuss pre-paid funeral options
- Managing inbound leads and proactively generating your own opportunities
- Building and maintaining a strong sales pipeline
- Developing relationships with businesses, community groups, RSLs and other potential partners
- Working closely with funeral locations and the at-need team to maximise referrals and opportunities
- Attending networking opportunities, seniors expos and community events
- Delivering presentations and educating groups about pre-paid funeral planning
- Following up leads and nurturing relationships through to conversion
- Preparing quotations and pre-paid funeral contracts
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring contracts meet company and legislative requirements
- Keeping up to date with products, services, market trends and competitor activity
- Working towards monthly sales targets and regularly reviewing your results
We’re looking for a salesperson who...
You don’t necessarily need funeral industry experience. We can teach you the industry — we’re looking for the right sales mindset.
You’ll ideally have experience across sales, business development, relationship management or customer-focused environments, with a proven ability to build and convert a pipeline.
Most importantly, you’ll be someone who:
- Is proactive, commercially minded and motivated by achieving targets
- Loves networking and building relationships from the ground up
- Is confident picking up the phone, following up leads and opening new doors
- Is naturally curious and asks questions to genuinely understand customer needs
- Has a strong sales mindset and enjoys creating new business opportunities
- Can balance commercial drive with empathy, care and emotional intelligence
- Is comfortable having sensitive conversations around death and end-of-life planning
- Can build trust quickly and communicate confidently with a diverse range of people
- Is self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously
- Enjoys being out in the community rather than being behind a desk every day
- Is organised, accurate and confident using CRM and Microsoft Office systems
- Holds an unrestricted driver's licence
The role in a nutshell
This is sales with a heart.
You’ll be responsible for building the pipeline, creating relationships and driving sales across your region. At the same time, you’ll be having conversations that require a different level of sensitivity and emotional intelligence.
You’ll need to be confident enough to ask the questions, uncover the need and guide the conversation, while understanding that every client has their own circumstances, family, beliefs and wishes.
You won’t be expected to walk in knowing everything about the funeral industry. You’ll receive comprehensive training, including time shadowing experienced team members, exposure to funeral operations and broader industry knowledge.
What we’re looking for is someone who can build relationships, create opportunities and genuinely care about the outcome.
Ready to make an impact?
If you’re an experienced salesperson who wants to do something a little different — combining commercial success, genuine relationships and meaningful conversations — we’d love to hear from you.
