About the Role
As a Claims Consultant, you'll be responsible for providing a high-quality claims experience from the initial notification through to ongoing claim management.
You'll work closely with internal teams, customers and suppliers to ensure claims are managed efficiently, accurately and in line with policy conditions and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
Deliver an exceptional lodgement and initial contact experience for customers, supporting an efficient First Notification of Loss (FNOL)
Manage a portfolio of select property claims in line with the Claims Assist function
Assess claims and make appropriate indemnity and liability decisions within delegated authority
Accurately set claim reserves based on available information
Appoint and liaise with appropriate suppliers throughout the claims process
Support claims administration and assist panel suppliers with system-related enquiries
Monitor claims correspondence and identify urgent matters requiring attention
Identify and escalate complaints in accordance with internal processes
Work collaboratively with leaders across multiple teams regarding claims and correspondence allocation
Identify opportunities to improve claims processes, procedures and customer service
Contribute to business projects, workshops and continuous improvement initiatives
Identify claims requiring underwriter involvement, including matters requiring risk recommendations or surveys
Ensure all claims activity is undertaken in accordance with internal policies, legislation and the General Insurance Code of Practice
Provide a consistent and seamless claims experience to customers across Australia
About You
We're looking for an insurance professional who combines strong claims knowledge with a genuine commitment to customer service.
You'll ideally bring:
Previous experience working within Property Claims is essential
Strong customer service and communication skills
The ability to manage a portfolio of claims with accuracy and attention to detail
Confidence making decisions within delegated authority
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
A collaborative approach and willingness to support the wider claims team
A proactive mindset with an interest in continuous improvement
A commitment to professional and compliant claims management
An insurance qualification such as ANZIIF , or another relevant professional certification, will be highly regarded.
