MAYDAY Recruitment is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Safety Administer to provide administrative, reporting, and coordination support to the Safety team. This is an entry-level role, ideal for someone interested in building a career in the safety, risk, or compliance space.

You do not need formal EHS qualifications or prior safety roles. However, some exposure to a similar environment will be beneficial. Success in this role comes from strong organisation skills, attention to detail, confidence working with data and Excel, and the ability to proactively coordinate and follow up with stakeholders.

What’s in it for you?
  • January start date
  • 6-month temp role with the possibility of extension
  • Fully office-based role in the heart of Sydney’s CBD
  • Monday-Friday, 8:30am – 5pm
  • $40 - $45 p/h + super
  • A genuine entry point into the EHS / safety function with on-the-job training and mentoring.
  • Exposure to how a Safety team operates across multiple sites and operational environments.
  • Hands-on experience with safety systems, reporting, dashboards, and data analysis.
  • Clear development pathways into Safety Coordinator, Analyst, or Advisor roles over time.
  • Highly transferable skills across compliance, operations, reporting, and stakeholder coordination.
  •  Direct support and guidance from an experienced Head of Safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor, track, and follow up on safety incidents and hazards across regions.
  • Ensure investigations are completed and corrective actions are documented and closed in the EHS system.
  • Maintain visibility of backlogs, overdue actions, and higher-risk issues, escalating where required.
  • Act as a central administrator and coordinator for the Safety team, supporting day-to-day operations.
  • Download, cleanse, and manipulate safety data from multiple systems.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring data integrity.
  • Produce monthly safety reports, dashboards, and presentations using templates.
  • Perform basic analysis and creation of charts and graphs.
  • Follow up with managers and site contacts on low-level safety tasks and compliance actions.
  • Assist with minor incident investigations and documentation under guidance.
  • Assist with safety committee meetings, including preparation of reports and minutes.
  • Assist with straightforward workers’ compensation cases in collaboration with external providers.
  • Proactively identify issues, delays, or data gaps and escalate when required.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail, accountability, and ownership.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Safety to ensure alignment with priorities.
Skill and Experience
  • Strong administrative or coordination experience in a professional or operational environment.
  • Interest in workplace safety, risk, compliance, or operational support roles.
  • High level of comfort working with data, spreadsheets, and systems.
  • Solid Excel skills (sorting, filtering, formulas, basic charts).
  • Strong organisation, follow-up, and time management skills.
  • Clear written communication and confidence engaging with stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exposure to construction, logistics, manufacturing, facilities, or other safety-focused environments.
  • Experience supporting compliance, reporting, or project coordination activities
This role is ideal for an administrator or coordinator looking to step into the safety space and build foundational experience in EHS systems, reporting, and operations. If this sound like what you’re looking for, apply today.
