Senior Financial Accountant

MAYDAY Recruitment is currently partnering with a well-established, ASX-listed financial services organisation to recruit an experienced Senior Financial Accountant.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing finance team where you’ll play a key role in reporting, business partnering, and driving system and process improvements across the group.

Main responsibilities include:
  • Preparing monthly management reports and board reporting packs
  • Delivering cost centre reporting, variance analysis and insightful commentary
  • Supporting monthly, quarterly and annual statutory reporting in line with accounting standards
  • Performing detailed balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring strong financial controls are maintained
  • Assisting with internal and external audit processes
  • Analysing financial performance to identify risks and opportunities
  • Contributing to budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Driving process improvements to streamline reporting and automate manual tasks
  • Supporting finance system enhancements, including configuration updates and data management
  • Assisting with strategic projects and broader finance transformation initiatives

The ideal candidate:
  • 5+ years’ accounting experience, ideally with experience in a senior or supervisory capacity
  • CA or CPA qualification (or working towards completion)
  • Strong background in financial and management reporting
  • Solid understanding of compliance, controls and accounting standards
  • Experience in financial services or a regulated industry (preferred)
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong ERP/system exposure (experience with large-scale systems highly regarded)
  • Experience working on process improvements, automation or system upgrades
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate financial insights clearly
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
