About the Role
MAYDAY is excited to partner with one of Australia’s leading retailers to recruit a Senior Injury & Return to Work Partner. This is a newly created, strategic role based in Canberra, supporting multiple stores across the ACT and regional NSW.

You’ll be a trusted advisor and mentor, working closely with operational leaders, team members, healthcare providers, and insurers to drive best-practice injury management, rehabilitation, and return-to-work outcomes. This role combines technical expertise, stakeholder engagement, and hands-on coaching, making it perfect for experienced injury management professionals seeking career growth.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage a portfolio of early intervention and workers’ compensation cases
  • Attend medical case conferences, advocate for suitable duties, and bridge the gap between clinical restrictions and operational needs.
  • Develop and implement return to work and rehabilitation strategies tailored to each team member
  • Partner with operational leaders to mentor, coach, and train on injury management, compliance, and return-to-work practices
  • Collaborate with multiple insurers, healthcare providers, and Third Party Administrators to monitor claims, treatment plans, and rehabilitation progress
  • Analyse claims data, identify trends, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Resolve complex disputes and provide guidance to ensure team members receive the right care and support.
  • Travel to stores across the ACT and regional NSW (up to ~400km) as needed

What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in workers’ compensation, injury management, or related field
  • Knowledge of return to work best practices and workers compensation legislation in NSW and ACT
  • Allied health qualifications (OT, Physio, Exercise Physiology) highly regarded
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and train leaders on injury management and return-to-work strategies.
  • Strategic, analytical thinker with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Resilient, service-oriented, adaptable, and able to work autonomously
  • Willingness and ability to travel regionally to support stores and teams

Why You’ll Love This Role
  • Impactful work: Support team members during critical times in their recovery
  • Career growth: Strategic role with exposure to senior stakeholders and opportunity to shape injury management programs
  • Flexible and collaborative: Primarily Canberra-based with some regional travel and hybrid working options
