About the Role
MAYDAY is excited to partner with one of Australia’s leading retailers to recruit a Senior Injury & Return to Work Partner. This is a newly created, strategic role based in Canberra, supporting multiple stores across the ACT and regional NSW.
You’ll be a trusted advisor and mentor, working closely with operational leaders, team members, healthcare providers, and insurers to drive best-practice injury management, rehabilitation, and return-to-work outcomes. This role combines technical expertise, stakeholder engagement, and hands-on coaching, making it perfect for experienced injury management professionals seeking career growth.
What You’ll Do
- Manage a portfolio of early intervention and workers’ compensation cases
- Attend medical case conferences, advocate for suitable duties, and bridge the gap between clinical restrictions and operational needs.
- Develop and implement return to work and rehabilitation strategies tailored to each team member
- Partner with operational leaders to mentor, coach, and train on injury management, compliance, and return-to-work practices
- Collaborate with multiple insurers, healthcare providers, and Third Party Administrators to monitor claims, treatment plans, and rehabilitation progress
- Analyse claims data, identify trends, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Resolve complex disputes and provide guidance to ensure team members receive the right care and support.
- Travel to stores across the ACT and regional NSW (up to ~400km) as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in workers’ compensation, injury management, or related field
- Knowledge of return to work best practices and workers compensation legislation in NSW and ACT
- Allied health qualifications (OT, Physio, Exercise Physiology) highly regarded
- Ability to mentor, coach, and train leaders on injury management and return-to-work strategies.
- Strategic, analytical thinker with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Resilient, service-oriented, adaptable, and able to work autonomously
- Willingness and ability to travel regionally to support stores and teams
