About the organisation
We are partnering with a government organisation based in Melbourne’s inner suburbs to recruit an experienced Senior People & Culture Business Partner.
This is an opportunity to join a purpose-driven organisation that plays an important role in supporting its local community and delivering a broad range of community, infrastructure and environmental services.
You’ll join a collaborative People & Culture team and work closely with senior leaders, managers and employees across the organisation, providing trusted HR advice and partnering on a range of people initiatives.
About the role
Reporting to the People & Culture Business Partnering Lead, you will provide senior-level HR expertise across the employee lifecycle, with a strong focus on employee relations, industrial relations, performance management, policy and strategic HR partnering.
The key portfolios of interest for this role are Family, Youth & Children Services and Libraries, Arts & Events, so experience supporting these types of community-focused environments will be highly regarded.
Key responsibilities
- Provide trusted, high-level HR advice and guidance to leaders across the organisation
- Manage and advise on complex employee and industrial relations matters
- Provide advice on performance management, misconduct, disciplinary matters and investigations
- Interpret and apply Enterprise Agreements, legislation, policies and employment conditions
- Partner with managers to resolve employee relations matters and workplace issues
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, managers, employees and union representatives
- Develop and review HR policies, procedures and contemporary people practices
- Lead and contribute to organisation-wide HR projects and initiatives
- Prepare and analyse workforce reporting and provide insights to support workforce planning
- Coach and empower leaders to effectively manage people matters
- Support organisational change and continuous improvement initiatives
About you:
- Extensive experience in a generalist HR Business Partnering role
- Strong ER/IR experience, ideally within a unionised environment
- Demonstrated experience managing complex performance, conduct, grievance and investigation matters
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, Enterprise Agreements and HR policies
- Experience developing and implementing HR policies, procedures and programs
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Strong communication, coaching, facilitation and influencing skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability
- Tertiary qualifications in HR or a related discipline
- Experience within Government, Local Government, community services, health, children services or another complex organisation will be highly regarded
