MAYDAY is seeking an experienced Settlements Officers to join a dynamic, supportive, and newly created team based in Parramatta.

As a Settlements Officer, you will focus on managing third-party motor settlements, negotiating with insurers, hire car companies, repairers, and legal representatives. This is a task-driven, negotiation-focused role, ideal for someone who enjoys ownership, problem-solving, and achieving fair commercial outcomes.
You won’t hold a personal portfolio; instead, you’ll manage incoming work and assist with overflow matters to ensure settlements are completed accurately and efficiently.

- Salary: $80k – $82k + Super

- Review claim details, policy coverage, liability, and exposure to determine potential risks and settlement strategies.
- Review and assess repair estimates, loss calculations, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and reasonableness.
- Review and validate hire car invoices to confirm charges align with industry standards and agreed terms.
- Identify patterns of excessive hire car usage or potential collusion between repairers and hire car providers.
- Determine whether hire car costs are recoverable from the at-fault party or should be absorbed by the company.
- Negotiate with other insurers in third-party at-fault matters, including claims presented against the company.
- Engage with third parties, repairers, hire car companies, and legal representatives to negotiate fair, cost-effective settlements in line with company guidelines.
- Manage settlement values ranging from $10k to $50k , prioritising tasks and handling multiple matters concurrently.
- Ensure settlements are handled carefully to avoid unnecessary or inflated payouts.
- Refer complex or high-risk matters to legal teams where appropriate.
- Ensure all actions comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies, maintaining accurate records for audit and reporting purposes.
- Proven experience in third-party settlements , ideally within hire car, motor, or commercial claims.
- Candidates with experience managing an end-to-end motor claims portfolio, including settlements, are also strongly encouraged to apply.
- Strong negotiation skills with a commercial mindset focused on cost control and fair outcomes.
- Ability to analyse documentation, identify risk exposure, and make sound settlement decisions.
- Confidence managing multiple stakeholders, including insurers, repairers, hire car providers, and legal representatives.
- A collaborative, results-driven approach with strong attention to detail and compliance.
