MAYDAY Recruitment is partnering with a respected national not-for-profit organisation to recruit a Special Projects & Events Manager to lead the delivery of a major national conference and awards program taking place in November.
This is an exciting opportunity to step into an established project and oversee the final stages of planning and execution for a high-profile, three-day national event, bringing together community leaders, key stakeholders and organisations from across Australia. There is also strong potential for the role to become permanent following the initial contract period.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of a large-scale conference, awards gala and associated stakeholder engagement activities.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the delivery of a major national conference and awards program
• Manage project plans, timelines, budgets and risk management activities
• Coordinate event logistics, suppliers, venues and external partners
• Oversee stakeholder engagement and communications activities
• Work closely with senior leadership on event delivery and strategic initiatives
• Manage multiple project streams simultaneously within a fast-paced environment
• Evaluate project outcomes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Ideal Candidate
• 5+ years' experience in events management, conference management or project management
• Proven experience delivering large-scale community events, conferences, awards programs or similar stakeholder-led events
• Strong project management capability with experience managing multiple moving parts simultaneously
• Experience managing budgets, logistics, suppliers and event operations
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously and lead projects with minimal supervision
• Experience using project management tools such as Asana, Excel or similar
• Demonstrated ability to engage respectfully with diverse communities and stakeholder groups
• An understanding of, or genuine interest in, reconciliation and working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities
