MAYDAY Recruitment is partnering with Australia's largest funeral services provider to recruit an experienced Development Coach to support the development and onboarding of Funeral Directors and Funeral Director Assistants across Western Australia.

This newly created role is focused on delivering structured training to new starters, supporting onboarding, coaching frontline teams and building capability across the business. If you're passionate about developing people, delivering engaging training and helping individuals build confidence and capability, this is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, this role will be based from the Malaga Head Office and will involve regular travel to locations across Western Australia to support frontline teams.

Working 3 days per week – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, you will play a key role in ensuring new starters receive a consistent and engaging introduction to the funeral industry, while also providing ongoing coaching and development to existing team members.

A key focus of the role will be delivering training content directly to new starters, helping them understand the role, build the knowledge and practical skills required to work within the industry, and feel confident as they transition into their positions.

Alongside new starter training, you will partner closely with operational leaders to identify capability gaps, provide targeted coaching and support frontline teams to continue developing their skills and performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver structured induction and onboarding programs to new starters, providing training on the knowledge, skills and expectations required to work within the funeral industry.

  • Facilitate engaging classroom and practical training sessions for new and existing team members.

  • Provide one-on-one coaching, mentoring and regular performance feedback.

  • Support new employees as they transition from training into their frontline roles.

  • Partner with leaders to identify capability gaps and develop targeted coaching and development plans.

  • Build trusted relationships with frontline teams and operational stakeholders across WA.

  • Travel to different locations to deliver training and provide hands-on coaching and support.

  • Collaborate on the design and continuous improvement of training content, onboarding programs and coaching frameworks.

  • Support continuous improvement, team engagement, retention and commercial outcomes.

About you

You are an engaging trainer and coach who enjoys developing people and helping individuals build confidence in their roles. You are comfortable standing in front of a group and delivering structured training, while also being able to build strong one-on-one relationships through coaching and mentoring.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in training, coaching, mentoring or developing frontline teams.

  • Experience delivering structured training or onboarding programs to new starters.

  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage medium-sized and diverse groups.

  • The ability to simplify information and deliver training in a practical, accessible way.

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills with the ability to motivate and support others.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • A collaborative approach with a genuine passion for developing people.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • A current driver's licence and willingness to travel across Western Australia.

  • Funeral industry experience is highly regarded but not essential. Candidates from learning and development, healthcare, aged care, disability, community services or other people-focused industries are encouraged to apply.

What's in it for you?

  • Part-time opportunity – 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).

  • Competitive salary plus car allowance.

  • Bonus incentive.

  • Based from the Malaga Head Office, with travel across WA.

  • A hands-on opportunity to deliver training and shape the onboarding experience for new starters entering the funeral industry.

  • Opportunity to coach and develop frontline teams and make a genuine impact on capability and performance.

  • Join Australia's largest funeral services provider and contribute to the experience provided to both employees and the families they support.

  • Be part of a collaborative organisation that values coaching, development and continuous improvement.
