The Opportunity

MAYDAY is partnering with a leading national insurer on a newly created Technical Claims Manager role within their Commercial Property, Construction and Engineering Claims team.

This senior technical leadership position has been created to uplift technical capability across the claims function, providing expert guidance, coaching and support to Service Managers and Technical Specialists managing complex and high-value claims.

You will act as a trusted technical authority across Commercial Property, Construction, Engineering, Building Warranty, SME and Corporate ISR portfolios.

The role focuses on strengthening claims capability, improving technical consistency, supporting succession planning and embedding best-practice claims standards. While there are no direct reports, you will have significant influence through coaching, mentoring, escalation support and technical leadership across teams nationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance, coaching and mentoring across complex claims portfolios
  • Act as the escalation point for large, complex and high-value claims
  • Support claims strategy, policy interpretation, coverage decisions and governance matters
  • Set technical standards and drive consistent claims practices
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and uplift technical capability
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, legal teams and external experts on complex matters
  • Support Service Managers and claims teams through development, knowledge sharing and mentoring

About You

You will bring:

  • Strong experience managing large-loss and complex commercial claims
  • Background in Commercial Property, ISR, Construction, Builders' Warranty, or Engineering claims
  • Experience in a senior technical claims, advisory or leadership role
  • Ability to coach, influence and develop claims professionals
  • Strong knowledge of policy interpretation, coverage and claims governance
  • Confidence managing complex stakeholder relationships and challenging claim outcomes
  • A proactive approach with strong commercial judgement and accountability
